Studio Updates
First things first, I made this hairy, pink vase, and I really like her vibe.
Okay, second thing, I have a new studio in my house! It's bright, it’s warm, and it’s overwhelmingly positive. I could possibly be luckiest person in the whole world. I currently still have so much to finish setting up, but the kiln is wired up, and I get to leisurely walk downstairs every morning make coffee & create. So all in all i’m thrilled.
Word Mugs
So i’ve been a little bit obsessed with word mugs. I have officially worked through my second batch of experiments. So I know what is definitely not working, and what needs to be improved on. I am currently onto round three of attempts. I found this wonderful printmaking technique from Catie Miller, a ceramicists in Fargo, ND. Definitely check out her instagram page @catiemillerceramics. She also paints stunning murals! Anyway, she has kind of perfected this printmaking technique on clay, and I decided to try it out on my word mugs. After a couple of weekends of attempting and repeatedly failing her technique. I have made minor tweaks, and I think I finally got it down. My mugs are keeping their form, and I truly can’t wait to see them fired. I added a few pics below, depending on how they fire I think I might try doing an online sale. I’m trying to change the way I run different aspects of my life, and doing an online sale actually feels like a good idea right now.
I am really excited about transitioning the color of the words. It’s doing something for me! For my next batch I want to focus more on that aspect. The idea of change coming out of the repetition of a thought/action, like a visual representation of energy. It would make a great manifesting mug. Especially since i’m trying to manifest more energy for myself. If I have a mug to remind me to manifest while I drink coffee out of it. I think I could get a lot done.
